Biography
Edy Williams, also known as Edwina Beth Williams, was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1942. Although not extremely well-known, Williams has starred in several different movies as well as guest starred in a number of television series like "The Beverly Hillbillies", "Lost in Space", "Adam-12", and "The Twilight Zone".
When she was younger, Williams definitely knew what she wanted and worked hard chasing after any little scrap of modeling work that she could find when she was in her teens. But it was her ability to win over judges in beauty contests that eventually got her signed with 20th Century Fox in the early 1960s. In the beginning, she found a niche in several minor roles in pictures like A House is Not a Home and Paradise, Hawaiian Style.
After that Williams found that she was often being cast in the second female lead in movies like The Pad and How to Use It and The Secret Life of an American Wife. The slow climb to stardom did not hold that much interest for Williams and her career took a dramatic turn when she met and married director Russ Meyer in 1970. Meyer often filmed soft-core/erotic movies and quickly cast Williams in the lead in Beyond the Valley of the Dolls and The Seven Minutes. Even going so far as to shoot her pictorial for a Playboy spread. After the pair divorced five years later, Williams was never able to get her career back on the track that it had been before. Since then she's gotten parts in movies such as Nudity Required, Hollywood Hot Tubs, and Bad Girls from Mars.
Now Edy Williams is most commonly known for the gowns that she designs and wears to events like the Oscars and the Cannes Film Festival, often garnering her the "worst dressed" title for her gowns that often leave little to the imagination. Williams is rarely seen in anything that is not scintillating or provocative in nature, and this is because, according to Williams, "the Lord really gave me something. So why on earth should I cover any of it up?"
