Biography
Drake Bell is an actor, singer, songwriter, and a guitarist who first gained fame as a child actor in the late 1990s and later began a successful career as a musician. He first began acting in 1995 at age ten.
Bell was born Jared Drake Bell on June 27, 1986, in Orange County, California, and his mother is a professional billiards player. Bell began acting and playing the guitar at an early age, first appearing in the films "Drifting School" and "The Neon Bible" when he was ten. He followed this up with an appearance in "Jerry Maguire," appeared in an episode of "Seinfield" in 1998, then became a series regular on the television show "The Amanda Show" in 1999.
After "The Amanda Show," Bell was cast in the Nickelodeon series "Drake & Josh" as Drake Parker. This would solidify his career as an actor and even win him a few awards, including the Best Male TV Actor at the 2005 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.
In 2005, Bell made the move to signing, releasing his first album, "Telegraph," independently. He had done some singing before, including singing "Found a Way," the theme song for "Drake & Josh." His first album did very well, and Bell later signed with Universal Records for "It's Only Time," his second album that was released in 2006. The single "I Know" also became Bell's first music video.
Bell's life took a tragic turn in 2005 when he was involved in a car wreck in his 1966 Ford Mustang, a car that offered little protection for the driver. He suffered a broken jaw, six dislodged teeth, a fractured neck, and a deep cut across his chin. Despite these injuries, Bell made a full recovery.
Currently, it has been rumored that Bell is dating Melissa Lingafelt, the runner-up in the 2006 Miss Teen USA pageant, a pageant in which Bell was a judge. While the two have not made their relationship a public matter, Lingafelt does sing backup vocals for Bell and appeared as his love interest in the "I Know" music video.
