Biography
Donna Mills is a famous American actress who, though she began her career doing theater, really gained fame by playing on several US soap operas. She's also appeared in several movies, including one with Clint Eastwood, and has guest starred on a number of television shows.

Mills was born on December 11, 1940, in Chicago, where she grew up. In fact, Mills' childhood is the basis of a very bizarre rumor that appeared in Interview Magazine. According to Camille Paglia, an American social critic, author, and controversial feminist, Mills was the basis of the character of Sandy in the musical Grease, although the fact that the authors of Grease grew up in Baltimore and, as far as evidence goes, never crossed paths with Mills shows this rumor to be false.

Another rumor surrounding Mills concerns her love life. While Mills does have an adopted child, she has never been married. However, one rumor has linked Mills to a retired American Airlines pilot. The two supposedly were married in 1969, had a child five years later, and then divorced in 1976. When asked about the rumor, Mills neither confirmed or denied it; instead, she commented on rumors and how fascinating they can be.

Mills first appeared on the CBS soap opera "The Secret Storm," although her first major role was on the soap opera "Love is a Many Splendored Thing," on which she played ex-nun Laura Donnelly. She would then go on to even greater fame in the 1980's when she played Abby Sumner on the soap "Knots Landing." This role would be her biggest, and she would later return to the soap for several guest appearances after leaving, including the series finale and the reunion movie.

In addition to her soap roles, Mills appeared opposite Clint Eastwood in the movie "Play Misty for Me." She also made appearances in the "The Six Million Dollar Man" and on several television series, including "The Love Boat," "Fantasy Island," "Melrose Place," "CHiPs," and "Cold Case."
