Sutherland has had three marriages. The first was to actress Lois Hardwick (1959-1966) and the second to actress Shirley Douglas (1966-1970). It was this second marriage that resulted in Sutherland's first children: twins Rachel and Kiefer. Kiefer Sutherland has since gone on to create a Hollywood career to rival his father's. Both, in fact, have won an Emmy award.
