Biography
One of the geniuses of this century comes by the name of David Ho. David Ho was born on November 3, 1952. David Ho was born in Taiwan to Paul and Sonia. He is married to Susan Kuo. They have three children, Kathryn, Jonathan, and Jaclyn. David Ho is Time Magazine's Man of the Year in 1996. He is famous for treating HIV. Before his rise to greatness, he migrated to the United States when he was twelve. His studies allowed his mind to develop to one of the greatest of this century. He received his bachelor's degree from the California Institute of Technology in 1974, garnering highest honors, summa cum laude. He obtained his degree in medicine from the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. His first encounter with AIDS patients was at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was a resident for internal medicine. Ho still does his mathematical calculations in Chinese despite being well versed in the English language. Ho is actually one of the first scientists to propose that HIV was caused by a virus. Ho is known for the elucidation of the dynamic nature of HIV replication in infected persons. Ho championed antiretroviral therapy with the use of protease inhibitors. This has resulted in the dramatic reduction of AIDS associated mortalities in developed countries. Right now, Ho's team is developing a vaccine to halt the spread of the AIDS epidemic. His proposition is that AIDS must be fought at its early stages. Ho has been mentioned for Person of the Century but lost to the great Albert Einstein. Competing against Albert Einstein is already an honor in itself. If you were in Ho's shoes, how would you compete with Einstein? Right now, Ho is the scientific director at the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center at the Rockefeller University in New York.
