David Grohl was born on January 14, 1969 in the state of Ohio, USA. He lived with his father James, his mother Virginia, and his older sister Lisa. Grohl grew up mainly with his mother because his mother and his father got divorced. Grohl got into music when he was twelve years old. Over the years, Grohl played in several bands. He played on the guitar first until he switched to playing the drums later on. Grohl attended the former Thomas Jefferson High School as a freshman and a sophomore. Grohl has been married twice. First, he married photographer Jennifer Youngblood in 1993. They got divorced in 1997. His second wife was Jordyn Blum, a producer for Music Television. They got married in August 2, 2003. They have a daughter named Violet Maye who was born on April 15, 2006. David Grohl used to be part of the band Nirvana until their front man, Kurt Cobain, died. He played drums for Nirvana from 1990 to 1994. When Kurt Cobain died, David Grohl put up the Foo Fighters in 1995. The Foo Fighters are composed of Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, William Goldsmith, Pat Smear, Franz Stahl, and himself.
