Biography
David Gahan was born on May 9, 1962 in England. He was born into a working class family. His parents Sylvia and Den separated when he was only six months old. David is best known for being the lead singer of the band, Depeche Mode. Depeche Mode has made a lot of hits during the past decades. Some of their hits include "I just can't get enough," "People are People," and "Enjoy the Silence." Studio Albums include Speak and Spell, a Broken Flame, Construction Time Again, Some Great Reward, Black Celebration, Music for the Massed, Violator, Songs of Faith and Devotion, Ultra, Exciter, and Playing the Angel. Compilations include People are People, Catching up with Depeche Mode, and the Complete Depeche Mode. Live Albums include 101, Songs of Faith and Devotion Live, and Recording the Angel. When Depeche Mode split up, David Gahan went solo and released an album named "Paper Monsters" in 2003. Before David's rise to success in the music industry, he went through a lot of trouble. With his parent's divorce and a lot of controversy surrounding his mother's other relationships, he moved out of the house at an early age and ended up doing things like stealing cars, vandalizing, and sprat painting graffiti on walls. He went to juvenile's court three times already even before he was fourteen years old. When Gahan started working, he moved from one job to another, from selling soft drinks to being a construction worker. Finally, he caught a good break when he earned a place at Southend Art College. He got the British Display Society Award. This allowed him to get jobs doing displays in shop windows and shopping centers. Right now, David is married to his wife Jennifer and they have a daughter named Stella born on July 29, 1999.
