David Coulthard was born on March 27, 1971. He is one of the most successful drivers in the world. He holds 13 grand prix victories. He is ranked fifth on the all time scorers list. With Team Williams, Coulthard placed 8th and 3rd in 1994 and 1995, respectively. With Team McLaren, Coulthard placed 7th in 1996, 3rd in 1997, 3rd in 1998, 4th in 1999, 3rd in 2000, 2nd in 2001, 5th in 2002, 7th in 2003, and 9th in 2004. With his recent team Red Bull, Coulthard has placed 12th both in 2005 and 2006.
How did Coulthard become such a great driver anyway? Coulthard started karting at an early age and graduated to Formula Ford in 1989. People were already so impressed with his driving skills that he won the McLaren/Autosport Young Driver of the Year Award. He suffered a major setback in 1990 when he suffered a broken leg. He was able to return the following year in several Formula 3 races. In 1992, he raced in a Formula 3000 series and finished ninth overall. During 1993, he was able to improve his ranking to third overall. He was able to bounce back from setbacks very quickly. Coulthard resided in Monaco for quite some time. He also owns home in Switzerland and in London. He owns hotels in England and in Monaco. Coulthard almost died in a plane crash in May 2000. His Learjet developed engine trouble and crashed while attempting to land in France. Coulthard got minor injuries but both of the pilots died. Coulthard has been involved in a lot of relationships. He has been involved with supermodel Heidi Klum, models Andrea Murray, and Ruth Taylor. He has been engaged to models Simone Abdelnour, Heidi Wichlinski, and F1 correspondent Karen Minier. He plans to marry Minier as soon as possible.
