Biography
David Carradine was born on December 8, 1936 in Hollywood. He is the son of John Carradine, also an actor. While growing up, David studied at the San Francisco State University. In order to develop his skills in acting, Carradine took up drama. Upon his graduation, Carradine has gotten several roles in film and in television. He has been in many films throughout his acting career. He is known for being Kwai Chang Caine in the 70's television series Kung Fu. This gave him a name in the show business industry. From the "Kung Fu" series, everyone branded him as sort of a martial artists master or some wise man. He starred in many more films after the "Kung Fu" series. He played "Big" Bill Shelly in Martin Scorsese's Boxcar Bertha in 1972. In 1976, he played Woody Guthrie in Bound for Glory. In 1977, he played Abel Rosenberg in Ingmar Bergman's "The Serpent's Egg." One of his recent roles was being Bill in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume One and Kill Bill Volume II in 2003 and 2004 respectively. This movie made a lot of success. Bill is someone who was responsible for almost killing a natural born killer. He starred alongside Uma Thurman in this movie. In 2007, Carradine appeared in Richard III as Buckingham. Other appearances of David are in Shane and Taggart. He has also been seen in some television series like Charmed and Alias. When it comes to documentaries, he has also hosted Wild West Tech on the History Channel. Carradine also stars in several martial arts videos concerning Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Just a note of Trivia, Carradine had no idea about martial arts before he starred in Kung Fu. He got into the whole Kung Fu thing while he was filming. He developed a certain interest for it and took it seriously.
