David Attenborough was born on May 8, 1926 in London. When David was a kid, he used to collect fossils and stones. This isn't the usual collectible for children but David found much interest in it. When he was seven years old, he finally received praise for his "museum." David went to school at the Wyggeston Grammar School for Boys in Leicester and got a scholarship to the Clare College at the University of Cambridge. He obtained a degree in Natural Sciences. David married Jane Elizabeth Ebsworth Oriel. She lived until the year 1997. They have two children named Robert and Susan. David is best known as a broadcaster and naturalist. He is considered to be a pioneer in the nature documentary film type. He has already done eight major series covering almost all kinds of life on earth. He filmed Life on Earth in 1979, The Living Planet in 1984, Lost Worlds in 1989, Trials of Life in 1990, Life in the Freezer in 1993, The Private Life of Plants in 1995, Survival Island in 1996, The Life of Birds in 1998, The State of the Planet 2000, The Blue Planet in 2001, The Life of Mammals in 2002, the Life in the Undergrowth in 2005, Great Natural Wonders and Greatest Wildlife Show on Earth in 2005, and several wild life specials on the tiger, the eagle, the leopard, and the serpent. During the course of his career, he was received numerous awards. He received the BAFTA Desmond Davis Award in 1970. He got his Knighthood in 1985. He received the International Cosmos Prize in 2000. He received the Michael Faraday Prize in 2003. He received the Descartes Prize in 2004. In 2006, he received a medal from the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management and the Culture Show British Icon Award.
