Biography
One of the greatest rockers of this age is Dave Lombardo. Dave Lombardo was born on February 16, 1965 in Havana, Cuba. His most important contribution to the realm of music is being the drummer for Slayer, one of the heavy metal bands in today's times. He recorded drums for six of the band's albums. He recorded on Show No Mercy, Hell Awaits, Reign in Blood, and South of Heaven in the eighties. He recorded on Seasons in the Abyss, Divine Intervention, Undisputed Attitude, and Diabolus in Musica in the nineties. Recently, he recorded God Hates Us All in 2001 and Christ Illusion in 2006. Before Dave Lombardo's rise to fame, he started out in music as early as grade three. He played a Santana record for show and tell in grade three and ever since, he became inspired. When other children were brining cute rabbits and dogs, this guy brought rock and roll. He was influenced a lot by Led Zeppelin and KISS. As he was growing, he knew that he would get into rock and roll. When he was fourteen, he purchased a TAMA Swingstar and a Paiste Cymbal package. He actually recorded his first record using these drums. Even on Dave Lombardo's most recent release in 2006, he used a TAMA Starclassic Maple. Dave Lombardo a musician that uses double bass drums. This makes him one of the more innovative musicians of today. He has already been coined the godfather of double bass. Why does he use double bass anyway? He states the following reason. Whenever you hit the bass drum, it is still going to resonate. If you hit it again then you sort of slap it back. In this way, you are not allowing the drums to breathe. With the double bass technique, you can allow the drums to breathe.
