Career

Television
Danny DeVito is probably known best for his role as Louis DePalma on the hit TV show Taxi, which aired in the late 1970's to the early 1980's, for which he was nominated for but he is also well known for the many roles he has played in countless movies. From his role as the irascible Louis, to his many appearances in films with actors from Michael Douglas in Romancing the Stone to portraying the unlikely twin brother of Arnold Schwarzenegger in Twins, he has earned his place among the great stars of all time. He truly deserved the honors he has received, including an Emmy in 2004 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy series for an appearance on Friends, to his four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Taxi, of which he won in 1981. He has voiced Homer Simpson's brother Herb for The Simpson's, and he is currently in the cast of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, on the FX Network.

Film career
He has not only appeared in several films, but he has directed six motion pictures, beginning with Throw Momma from the Train in 1987, followed by The War of the Roses in 1989, Hoffa in 1992, Matilda in 1996, Death to Smoochy in 2002, and Duplex in 2003. His movies tend to lean toward the bizarre, and frequently deal with dark humor, but remain popular. Many critics agree that his best were The War of the Roses and Matilda, and quite a few believe that his last two films were not quite as good as the rest.

Few could argue that Danny DeVito has not had an illustrious career, beginning with his first role as Martini in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in 1975 to his portrayal of Buddy Hall, in Deck the Halls, in 2006.
