Biography
Dan Aykroyd was born on 1st July 1952 in Ottawa, Canada. Aykroyd studied at Carleton University, Ottawa, joined the Second City Comedy improvisation group in Toronto, made a name for himself as a stand-up comedian. Aykroyd was having multi talented personality in his field as he was well versed with mimicry acts, comedies, acting, directing, writing and lot of other talents in terms of television and movies. He worked as a mail sorter for Canada's national postal service before he became an actor.

Aykroyd was more reserved and less self-destructive. He was good friends with John Belushi, who recruited him for Saturday Night Live. He first achieved stardom as a gifted mimic and impersonator in the original crew of television's Saturday Night Live. According to Aykroyd, it was his first meeting with Belushi that helped spark their popular Blues Brothers act. The Blues Brothers was a legitimate musical art, releasing the hit album Briefcase Full of Blues, in 1978, and performing live gigs. Aykroyd is a board of member for the House of Blues club. He and the actress Donna Dixon, who worked with him in Doctor Detroit, have been married since April 29, 1983.

Dan Aykroyd scored first major critical success of his film career with Trading Places, in which he portrayed environment versus heredity bet, leaded by Eddie Murphy. Dan Aykroyd's film career moved into high gear with the release in June 1984 of the hugely successful horror-comedy Ghostbusters. Written by Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and produced and directed by Ivan Reitman, the film was originally conceived as Aykroyd-Belushi vehicle called Ghostmashers. Dan Aykroyd's directorial debut was 1991's Nothing but Trouble. It starred Demi Moore, Chevy Chase, and Aykroyd himself. The film was a critical and box office flop. He was honored to become one of the busiest actors in Hollywood, with 24 films to his credits since 1979. Dan received Emmy Awards for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance, the Simpsons (1998), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Mine series or Movie, Tuesdays with Moorie (2000), Outstanding Voice-Over Performance, The Simpsons for playing various characters for episodes Worst Episode Ever (2001). Also nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at Academy Awards for Driving Miss Daisy (1990).
