Biography
There is no lack of talent in the music industry; there is always someone who is trying to cut a break into it. Some make it while some do not; some sparkle through an album or two before they fade away from the limelight completely. So far, there is at least one star in music heaven that will not fade out soon, and that is Ciara.
Ciara is one of the newest promising talents of the music scene today. She first saw the glimmerings of stardom with the launch of her debut album Goodies on September 28, 2004. This debut album of hers featured songs that she wrote on her own, and it spawned three Top Three singles and sold 2.6 million copies in the United States alone.
In 2005, Ciara immediately followed up her debut album with Ciara: The Evolution, an album relating her personal growth during the first two years of her stay in the limelight. This sophomore album turned out to be a bigger hit than her first. Ciara: The Evolution shot up to the number one spot on Billboard 200 soon after its launch. It has sold 338,000 copies in the United States so far, and is already a certified platinum album.
In 2006, Ciara won a Grammy Award for her participation in Missy Elliott's video for the single Lose Control. The year 2006 also saw Ciara's acting debut when she played Becca Watley, a volleyball queen bee in the sports and coming-of-age drama All You've Got, a film produced and released by MTV Films. The film starred Adrienne Bailon and Efren Ramirez.
Ciara was born Ciara Princess Harris to parents Carlton and Jackie Harris in Austin, Texas on October 25, 1985. Because her father is in the military, the family had to move a lot. Ciara cites Destiny's Child to be her major musical influence. Shortly after graduating from high school, Ciara met producer Jazze Pha, who introduced her to L.A. Reid, executive producer of LaFace Records. L.A. Reid signed her in to his label in 2003.
