Christian Charles Philip Bale was born on the 30th of January, 1974, in Haverford west, a place in the far west of south Wales. He moved along with his family from Wales when Christian was only 2 years old, and began a nomadic life that took him to Oxford shire, Portugal (when he was 11) and Dorset. By the time he was 15 Christian reckoned he'd lived in 15 different places. Bale started his acting career at the age of nine.
He began his film career in Steven Spielberg's 'Empire of the Sun' in 1987. In this he played the role of a young English boy Jim. A fantastic performance in Spielberg's movie took Bale to great heights. Since then, Bale got a chance to work in great projects such as, 'American Psycho' and 'Shaft'. He has always put a variety in his acting performances and almost lives the character.
Known for his intensity and versatility, Christian Bale is best known for playing the role of Batman in the 2005 film Batman Begins. In 1994 he did the movie 'Little Women' with Winona Ryder. In 1996 he got a dramatic role in the movie 'The Portrait of a Lady'. This was based on the novel by Henry James. In 1998, he worked on 'Velvet Goldmine' and then in 1999 in the epic Shakespearean classic 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
In the year 1999 and 2000 he also appeared in the remake of 'Shaft' (2000) and even as Jesus Christ in the 1999 made-for-TV movie 'Mary, Mother of Jesus' (1998). In 2004 he became recognized for his work when he lost over 60 pounds to play a scrawny insomniac in 'The Machinist'. Bale married Sibi Blazic in the year 2000 and was blessed with a beautiful baby girl in the year 2005.
