Biography
Chris Noth was born in Madison, WI on November 13, 1954. As a child Chris had to move to a lot places along with his parents, such as England, Yugoslavia and Spain. As an actor Noth had to study drama under acting coach Stanford Meisner before being accepted into the prestigious Yale School of Drama. He joined the American Shakespeare festival in Straford, CT. Here he appeared in productions with theater companies across the country, including Manhattan Theater Club and Los Angeles Mark Taper Forum.
Noth made his debut in television in 1982. He did a number of small parts in shows such as "Off Beat" and "Baby Boom". However Noth got his big break when he got selected to do the part of detective Mike Logan on "Law and Order". Law and Order took Noth to new heights where he was appreciated as a true actor by many of his critics.
Noth got his next big break when he was offered to do the role of Big in HBO's original series "Sex and the City". The show turned out to be a huge hit and this made Noth recognizable by several modern directors and producers. The very modern and creative show gave Noth the image of man against several modern thinking women. The very natural and classy appearance by Noth made him the only permanent male star of this ladies show.
The success of "Sex and the City" fetched Noth a role in the movie "Cast Away". In this movie he got play a role opposite to the great Tom Hanks and sensational Helen Hunt. Chris Noth is truly considered as a veteran of film and television. He continues to be a very fine actor and has evolved from the small stage to the big stage in style.
