Biography
Born May 23, 1974 as Charlie Yeung Choi-Nei, Charlie Yeung is quite possibly the most famous entertainer Hong Kong has ever had. Charlie got her first big break after appearing in a jewelry commercial and has since gone on to appear in numerous music videos in her country. She has also tried her hand as a singer and released albums which have been met with some success. She made her movie debut in Wong Kar-Wai's martial arts movie Ashes of Time, alongside fellow co nationals such as Leslie Cheung, Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Brigitte Lin.

In 1994 she worked with director Tsui Hark on the movie The Lover, where she was cast as the female lead in this Chinese classical tale about the Butterfly Lovers opposite Nicky Wu's character. Her success was almost overnight and the film remains one of her most successful to date. In the three years between 1994 and 1997, Hong Kong could not get enough of her, as she was without question the most famous entertainer in Hong Kong at the time, with her face gracing numerous magazine covers and billboards.

However, in 1997 she left the entertainment business to start an an image consultant business with her boyfriend, a lawyer from Singapore, in Malaysia but in 2004 both the relationship and the business failed and she has since comeback to the entertainment world, having starred with Jackie Chan in the film New Police Story. She has since worked on other martial arts and melodramatic films in her country and is currently working on the movie Fu Zi opposite Aaron Kwok and is due to start filming Seven Sword 2 soon. With almost 20 films to her credit as well as album releases, there is no doubt that she will regain the same popularity at which she left it off.
