Though he has over 100 films credited to his name (the most notable are Platoon, Wall Street and Young Guns) and was born to an acting dynasty (he is the son of actor Martin Sheen and brother of actor Emilio Estevez), Charlie Sheen is a famous for his off-screen antics as for his on-screen ones. Born on September 3, 1965 in New York City, Sheen (who has adopted his father's stage surname) had two great loves as a teenager: making films and baseball. During his teen years he made over 200 super 8 films with his high school friends Sean Penn and Rob Lowe and was a pitcher for the school baseball team. His poor grades and lack of attendance however lead to his expulsion from high school just a few weeks before graduation.

Though a gifted actor and constantly sought out for his acting ability, his name however has also become synonymous with Hollywood debauchery. He has had many tumultuous relationships, is twice divorced (his most recent divorce is from actress/Bond girl Denise Richards, now current girlfriend of Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, with whom he has two daughters. He also has a 22 year old daughter from a previous relationship.) and was involved in the infamous "Hollywood madam" scandal, when it was discovered that his name was amongst the many in Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss' "black book". He has also admitted to having a cocaine problem, for which he sought help.

Sheen, like his father, is very outspoken when it comes to expressing his political views. Last year during an interview he expressed his views regarding the September 11, 2001 attacks. He questioned both the dynamics of the attacks and the collapse of the World Trade Center after they were hit with the planes. His views have since been the subject of healthy debate nationwide.
