Biography
Chantal Kreviazuk is widely known for charting new musical courses. Her first piano-length album became very successful when she was only three years old. It was entitled "What If". She is a Canadian piano-playing rocker. She was born on May 18, 1973 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Chantal's name was derived from a French term, which means "to sing".
Chantal studied at the University of Manitoba in Canada. This is where she was trained for an Arts Studies program during the early 90s. While she took classic piano lessons, Chantal found herself writing pop songs.
Chantal was very well trained in her classic piano skills during her college years. She also began writing and composing her own music right after surviving a fatal accident. As early as three years old, Chantal learned to play the piano herself simply by watching her brothers. By the time she became 19, she was already an expert in handling the piano. Some of the songs that she composed in the album earned her record sales of double platinum in the year 1997. This was her first album debut. Her style of singing was practically compared with Shaina Twain and Celine Dion.
Due to much pressures and expectations from fans, Chantal freely experimented with her own style of music. She began to compose songs using the guitar apart from the piano. She was a co-writer for several songs for Avril Lavigne's album, which was released in 2004.
Chantal has always captured the hearts of fans around the globe. Chantal is the famous voice behind the remake song of "Leaving on a Jet Plane", which was used as soundtrack for the movie "Armageddon". Her lingering and melody rendition of that song is a perfect example of her talent that bridges time and several generations. She will continue to make magic out of her music.
