Biography
Cecilia Cheung, the famous Chinese actress and singer was born in Hong Kong to a Chinese father Chinese mother. The marriage failed apparently due to the fact that her father was a member of a local Chinese gang, and Cheung was sent to Australia to live with an Aunt.
In 1998, she was discovered quite accidentally while helping out a friend on a catwalk show, and was offered to a bit role in a T.V commercial. Cheung was able to create a lot of waves with her sultry looks and soon made her movie debut as a sexy night club Hostess in the movie The King of Comedy which was released in 1999. This was followed by another meaty role in Fly Me to Polaris which too released in the same year.
She sizzled in the role and her performance earned her the best Newcomer in the Hong Kong Film Awards. Not wanting to restrict herself only to acting Cecilia launched her first music album Any Weather also in the year 1999. The lethal combination of her sexy looks and husky voice created a lot of waves and she was catapulted to the big scene.
Cheung won the best actress award at the Hong Kong Film Awards for her performance in the romantic drama Lost in Time. In this movie she played a young woman, who struggles through life as an unwed single mother due to the unfortunate demise of her fiancé ©n a car accident.
Cheung is a devoted lover. She was deeply in love with the young Hong Kong heart throb Nicholas Tse, but the couple broke up when Nicholas decided to return to his ex-flame singer Faye Wong. Cheung reportedly suffered serious depression and a nervous breakdown due to the break up. The couple again reunited in early 2006, and on September the love birds married in hush-hush ceremony in Philippines
