Biography
She is no ice maiden. She looks nothing like the anorexic models we keep getting bombarded with on T.V and ever since the world saw her on the trailers of The Mask Of Zorro, Catherine has enraptured the minds of all North American males. She is a vision of beauty startlingly and yet refreshingly different from the rest of the blonde brigade. Her classical beauty does justice to the roles played by her. She has proved that as an actress she is second to none, and no matter what the role - action, drama, comedy she can do them all.
The dusky actress hails from a tiny fishing village called Mumbles, Wales. Catherine was born in September 25, 1969. Her middle name "Zeta" was also the name of the ship that her grandfather sailed in. Although Catherine Zeta Jones was still a relatively unknown name in the United States, till the release of The Mask of Zorro, she was already famous in her native country of U.K. She had acted as a child star and had appeared as the female lead in the musical-comedy Annie at the age of just 11.
Catherine biggest break came when she became a regular star in the immensely popular British T.V series The Darling Buds of May. She immediately became a favorite of the paparazzi and this intrusiveness was unbearable for the young star, who decided to make her career across the Atlantic. Hollywood took its time to accept Catherine. 1994 was the year when she got her first real time role as the female lead in the Return of the Native (CBS network) and then she captivated the American audience with her role as Catherine in the mini series of epic proportions Catherine the Great.
Steven Spielberg noticed her talent and thought that she would be perfect as the female lead in The Mask of Zorro (1998). Spielberg knew exactly what he wanted and the and audiences and critics couldn't have agreed more. In 1999 she appeared in the summer block buster "Entrapment" opposite Sean Connery. The same year she also accepted the role of Theo in the movie The Haunting.
In 2002 Catherine danced her way into the hearts of millions through her Oscar winning performance in the film Chicago. Following her Oscar win, she signed several high profile projects on and off the silver screen. In 2003 she appeared in the movie Intolerable Cruelty opposite George Clooney. She has also starred several other billion dollar hits that included Stephen Spielberg's romantic comedy The Terminal and of course Ocean's twelve both of which released in 2004. Catherine zeta Jones found her soul mate in Michael Douglas at the Deauville Film Festival, with whom she exchanged vows soon after.
