Biography
"I like to be sexy and show people I'm sexy." This is probably one of Catherine Bell's most oft repeated quotes. Catherine Bell played the part of lieutenant. Colonel Sarah "Mac" Mackenzie in military Court drama "Jag" which ran for a period of over ten years. And without a shadow of a doubt the show was able to retain its popularity and had had old timers switching on to it because of the stalwart performance of Catherine Bell. Agreed Marines are interesting, what really had the fan hooked were the trials and tribulations of Lieutenant CL. Mackenzie.
In fact the show was as popular among the younger lot as it was with their parents. Catherine Bell was instrumental in helping the T.V series appear consistently on the top 20 Nielson list as one of the most viewed shows in the United States of America. "Jag" inspired thousands of American youth to don the marine uniform. So much so that the U.S military force had once contemplated roping in Catherine as a brand ambassador, to woo more and more recruits. Catherine's huge fan following among the US marines and the seals as a result of her long stint in the military drama turned her into a national icon. She was someone who truly represented the defiance, courage and character of the American youth.
Catherine Bell had a mixed (literally) upbringing. Born to a Scottish Father and an Iranian mother her upbringing was greatly enriched by the blending of two diverse cultures. Unfortunately the marriage didn't last, and when Catherine was only twelve she and her mother moved to California. Catherine's cubby cuteness and feisty spirit won her number of television commercials as a kid. She enrolled into the University of California with the intention of becoming a Biomedical engineer, but later dropped out as modeling assignments began pouring in.
Her first movie appearance was as a body double for Isabella Rossellini in the movie Death becomes her. In 2003 she was seen in the Jim Carrey starrer comedy Bruce Almighty in supporting role. Bell found her life partner in Adam Beason whom she married on 8th May, 1994. She is now a proud mother of her daughter Gemma, who was born in April 16th 2006.
