Biography
Carol Brunett along with her sisters was raised by their loving grandmother in San Antonio, Texas. Her parents both died from severe alcoholism. She was born on April 26, 1933. In her childhood years, Carol was known for her sense of humor. She certainly had a funny bone. Her grandmother always encouraged her to use her talent for comedy and music and enter the field of acting
Carol's mother did not think too much of her acting career, because her mother wanted her to become a writer. But despite her mother's unhappiness, Carol still pursued and enhanced her acting career. Carol went to school in UCLA, where she studied English and Theater Arts as majors. At UCLA, she grew into a composed and mature young lady and decided to enter the entertainment sector as a professional.
Her career started when she performed as a lived host and stand up comedian in different night clubs. She also played comic roles for various programs such as Jack Paar, Ed Sullivan, and Steve Allen. Carol got her breakthrough in her career with her performance in the Off-Broadway musical show of Once upon a Mattress in the year 1959. In her career performance, Carol won two Emmy awards in the year 1962. In same year of 1962, Carol signed a contract with CBS and was supervised by her former husband Joe Hamilton. At the age of 70, Carol became a recipient of the 2003 Kennedy Center Honors.
Carol also starred in some films such as "Pete 'N Tillie" and "A Wedding". In comparison with her television career, Carol's film career did not take off that well. Her television career as a television comedian and host had given her a place in several television networks. Currently, Carol is featured in the popular television series, Desperate Housewives, where she plays Eleanor the cold stepmother of Bree, one of the lead actors.
