Biography
Carmen Kass is an Estonian supermodel who was born on September 14, 1978. She was raised by her parents in Sika Village, Paide, where she was also crowned as Miss Paide during her teen years. Ever since she was a young girl, she's been aspiring to have a modeling career. But before she got the chance of acquiring the title of Miss Estonia (formerly Soviet Union), a modeling offer came to her, which lead her to Milan. She falsified the signature of her mother in going to Milan. Her mother, who solely brought her up as a single parent, was very much against the idea of her going to Milan. This was the start of her fame as a glamorous model. Before her fame, Carmen was handled by an Estonian agency called "Baltic Models".
At 14, Carmen was scouted by some Italian model agents in a supermarket in Tallin, Estonia, who brought her to Milan. And at 18, she moved to Paris where she was placed in the lime light by being featured on magazine covers and runway fashion shows. Among the magazines she appeared in are L'Officiel and Vogue (US and France), Elle (Australia), Image (UK), Madame Figaro, and Numero France. She also dressed up for top and first-class designers in the world such as Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Gianni Versace, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Prada, Nicole Miller, Moschino, Michael Kors, MaxMara, Jill Stuart, Gucci, Gianfranco Ferre, Dolce and Gabbana, DKNY, Christian Diro, Chanel, Calvin Klein, Bill Blass, BCBG, Alberta Ferrety and Anna Sui.
But she was highly popular in her Gap campaign ad, where she made the brand very popular. From then on, Carmen became one of the top fashion models in the industry. Presently, Carmen endorses for Sephora, one of world's cosmetic retailers and Christian Dior perfume. Her modeling career had definitely given her stardom status in the business.
This year 2007, Carmen has eight campaign ads for spring/summer collections. She is also one of the sought-after model endorsers for various fashion magazines in New York and Paris and a part-owner of "Baltic Models" agency.
