Biography
Tara Leigh Patrick was born on 20 April 1972 at Sharonville, Ohio. It was a suburb in Cincinnati. Her mother was Patricia, a vocalist, and her father's name was Harry Patrick, and he was a guitar player. In her childhood she attended the School For Creative And Performing Arts and Princeton High School, and also Walnut Hills High School for a brief period.
Later Tara shifted to California, where she met a singer from Minneapolis, called Prince, who persuaded her to change her name to Carmen Electra. She signed a recording contract with Prince's company Paisley Park Records. Unfortunately, Carmen's singing career was short-lived, and died with the release of her very first album. She received offers for various television programs from 1995.
In 1996, in the May issue of Playboy magazine, she appeared nude. Appearances in high-profile television shows like Baywatch followed. She remained a member of the cast from 1997 to 1998. Next she was featured in Singled Out, a show on MTV.
Film offers also poured in, Carmen was cast in films like Good Burger in 1997, The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human in 2000, in 2003 in Baywatch: Hawaiiwan Wedding, the remake of the 1970s television series Starsky and Hutch in 2004, the cult comedy flick Scary Movie 4 in 2006, and Epic Movie in 2007. She had a cameo in the comedy American Dreamz in which she was featured as herself. Critics unceasingly deride her acting prowess, but her popularity does not wane.
Meanwhile, Carmen performed regularly with the dance ensemble The Pussycat Dolls. She also crafted a series of DVDs called Carmen Electra Aerobic Striptease, which are a combination of classic striptease with mild workout moves. She is the current spokesperson for Ritz Camera Centers and is featured in their advertisement campaigns.
Electra had a notorious on-and-off marriage with basketball superstar Dennis Rodman from 1998 to 1999. She was briefly linked with Tommy Lee, the former husband of Pamela Anderson. In 2003 she married Dave Navarro, the erstwhile lead guitarist of the rock band Jane's Addiction. They separated later in 2006 when Carmen filed for divorce.
