Biography
Calry Pope was born on 20th August 1980 and was brought-up in Vancouver in British Columbia. She was born to a father of English and Yugoslavian descent and an Italian mother. Pope's acting talent was evident since her school days and she participated in classics like The Odd Couple in which she enacted the role of Mickey, and also in A Midsummer Night's Dream in which she played Titania.
Acting was her inherent aspiration. She trained in dance and studied drama in an advanced program in Lord Byng Secondary School. Spotted by an agent on her school stage production, she bagged a role in a children's film Cowboys and Aliens.
After Carly graduated from high-school in 1998, she received her fisrt role, that of a cheerleader, in the made-for-television movie I've Been Waiting For You. Her first feature film Disturbing Behavior followed. Carly Pope became a star with the film A Cooler Climate. Pope appeared in a number of films and television shows, including Nightman. She took admission in the University of British Columbia for one semester. But she had already become a highly sought-after actress.
Then she rose to fame with the character of Samantha McPherson - a school geek, in WB's high-school drama Popular. She had by this time shifted to Los Angeles. She had the lead role in the ABC television film Our Guys: Outrage At Glen Ridge. Later she went on to play a drug abuser addicted to heroin in Trapped in a Purple Haze, acted opposite Leelee Sobiesk and Diane Lane in the thriller The Glass House, and was cast in the hit comedy Orange County.
Carly Pope has won several awards, including Women in Film and Video Vancouver's Astistic Merit Award for The Hamster Cage in 2005, and the Leo Award for Best Supporting Actress for The Collector in 2004.
