Carlos Moy᠌ompart was born on August 27, 1976 in Palma de Mallorca in Spain. Moyࠢegan playing tennis at the age of six. He started playing professionally and won his first tour title in Buenos Aires in 1995.
Moy࠲eached his first Grand Slam final at the 1997 Australian Open, in which he lost in straight sets to Pete Sampras. In 1998, Moy࠴asted victory in the French Open by defeating Alex Corretja in the final. The same year he went on to win his first Tennis Masters Series in Monte Carlo. Moy࠲eached World Number 1 ranking in March 1999 and held the rank for two weeks. However, later that year he lost the French Open to Andre Agassi, who became the champion that year. He suffered a stress injury in his lower back during the US Open that year.
In 2000, in spite of his injury, Moyࠨeld his position in the World Top 50 for the fifth year. He went up to the fourth round of the US Open, but lost to Todd Martin. Moy࠷on at Estoril later in 2000. In 2002 Moy࠷on four titles, including the second Tennis asters Series title of his career, and at Cincinnati, he defeated the-then World Number 1 Lleyton Hewitt to win his the second major hardcourt title.
In 2003 Moyࠨelped Spain reach the final of the Davis Cup and the next year, in 2004, he ensured the victory of Spain by winning two critical singles matches. He was the only player on the tour that year who won no less than 20 matches on both clay and hard courts. In January 2005 at Chennai, Moy࠷on the 18th title of his career and donated his prize money in the aid of the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake victims. At present Carlos Moy࠲esides at Switzerland and is romantically associated with Flavia Pennetta.
