Biography
Carlos Bernard Papierski was born on 12th October, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended the New Trier School and displayed his acting talent since his high school days. He acquired a Master of Fine Arts degree from the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. Carlos started his acting career as a stage artist. He acted in several A.C.T. productions, such as: As You Like It, Hamlet, The Diary of Anne Frank, and The Cherry Orchard.
Soon he moved on to television and made guest appearances in popular shows like Walker, Texas Ranger, The Young and The Restless, Babylon 5, Silk Stockings and so on. He even appeared in some lesser known movies like The Killing Jar, Mars and Beyond and The Colonel's Last Flight. Carlos is most famous for his role of Agent Tony Almeida, an employee in a fictional agency called Counter Terrorist Unit or CTU, in FOX Network's television series 24.
He starred in four consecutive seasons of the show, followed by guest appearances in the fifth season. He is the second longest running character in the show, next to Kiefer Sutherland. Along with the cast of 24, Carlos was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series by the Screen Actors Guild in both 2003 and 2005. For his performance in the same series, he was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award by Imagen Award in 2005. Carlos was also nominated for the Best Director Award in the LA Weekly Theater Award for The Memorandum.
In 1999 Carlos married actress Sharisse Baker, and she gave birth to a baby girl in August 2003, whom they named Natalie. In 2003, Carlos was mentioned as one of People's 50 Most Beautiful People. In 2006, the video game version of the highly successful television drama 24 was released, in which Carlos provided the voice for his character Tony Almeida.
