Biography
Carla Bruni Tedeschi was born in Turin, the capital of Piedmont in Italy on December 23rd, 1968. She is the daughter to a Franco-Italian mother and an Italian father. This powerhouse of multifaceted talent is an heiress to a tire manufacturing business, but she wanted to carve out a niche for herself in the world. She went on to become a supermodel, followed by a music composer and a singer.
Bruni settled in Paris when she was 7 years old. Her father was a classical composer. Her mother was a celebrated concert pianist. Soon she started strumming the guitar. Chopin, Schubert and Mahler were her early influences, under the guidance of her parents. On the other hand, French iconoclasts of pop music like Serfe Gainsbourg, the legendary Beatles and the Rolling Stones from England, and American idols like Bob Dylan and Ricky Lee, shaped Bruni's musical inclinations.
After returning from Switzerland, Bruni took to the ramp at the age of 19. By 1988, became one of the most sought after fashion models. She was not only one of the most photographed models, but was also featured in Business Age's list of 20 most highest-paid models. She worked for Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy and Prada, and later at the acme of her career she took up selective work for noted fashion-houses like Yves Saint Laurent and Gaultier. Throughout her modeling career, her love-affair with the guitar continued.
During her modeling days, Bruni was romantically linked with rock stars Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, business mogul Donald Trump, and film-artists Kevin Costner and Vincent Perez. Ultimately she married Raphael Enthoven. Bruni finally said goodbye to the world of fashion in 1998. On November 5, 2002 she released her debut album Quelqu'un m'a dit, in France. It was produced by gifted guitarist and songwriter Louis Bertignac. It went on to become a huge success, and sold over 2 million copies globally. In January 2007, her second album, No Promises was released. This musical work exceeded all expectations in terms of compositions, singing and production. The album clearly reveals the cultured brilliance of the artist.
