Biography
After Princess Diana's death in 1997, Camilla Parker Bowles became the second wife of Britain's Prince Charles. She was born in London on July 17, 1947. She is the daughter of Major Bruce and Rosalind Shand. She and Prince Charles made their vows in a civil ceremony at Windsor's Guildhall last April 9, 2005. After that, Camilla acquired the title of Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall.
Camilla went to school in Queen's Gate School and finished her education in Switzerland and France, where she met her first romantic relationship in the person of Kevin Bourke, an aviator. But in 1973, she got married to cavalry officer Andrew Parker Bowles but divorced in the year 1995.
Camilla's relationship with Prince Charles was kept extremely closed for years until Princess Diana's death. It is said that they had an affair that started after Princess Diana gave birth to Prince William, which they admitted in the year 1994 during an interview. During the affair, Camilla had given Prince Charles a pair of cufflinks with engraved twin letter C's, which represent the initial of their names, Camilla and Charles. The two also confirmed that before each of them got married, a romantic relationship had already existed. According to Camilla, Prince Charles had delayed proposing marriage to her and Andrew her first husband was the first to propose so she accepted his proposal. But when Camilla and Prince Charles publicly announced their relationship, Camilla became visible at High Grove House and social events. Camilla also resides at Clarence House, which is the ancient residence of the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
Camilla was chosen as the Most Fascinating Person of 2005 by Barbara Walters in November 2005. She also topped the list of Independent List of Britain's Happiest People. In March, Camilla was admitted in a hospital due for a hysterectomy.
