Biography
With Cameron Crowe, the old adage "Behind every man's success is a woman" has been quite applicably true. From the moment that Crowe has started his writing career in the film industry, his wife, Nancy, has been in the shadow. In 1982, his first screenplay for a movie, "Fast Times at Ridgemont High", which was based from a book he wrote, a bit role was given to Nancy Wilson. In 1995, his next movie, the huge hit, Jerry Maguire, which incidentally was a 5-year in the making, was almost put into the museum's antique collection were it not for the persistent push from some of the closest people he have, including Nancy, who, by the way, created the music for the film.
Cameron Crowe started his writing career at an early age of 15. Driven by his passion to write, he became a contributing editor at the age of 16 at the very famous "The Rolling Stone". As an editor, he was able to have an interview with the legends such as Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, and Eric Clapton. He also was a Rock Music Critic for four years at the San Diego Union. Adding to his vitae, he wrote for top magazines like The Los Angeles Times, Playboy, and Creem. Crowe earned an Oscar nomination for Best in Screenplay, with his Jerry Maguire movie, with no less than Tom Cruise as lead actor. With his enormous knowledge in the arts and films, he was an honorary member of the jury at the Venice Film Festival in 2006.
Crowe being an acclaimed rock journalist, screenwriter, actor, and director, is known for his craft that is unorthodox. It is not that he defies norms, but making a movie that touches his personal views is what this noted artist has always wanted to do. Although, admittedly, he said that doing such was never as easy as one could have dreamt it would be.
