Biography
Calista Kay Flockhart was born on November 11, 1965, in Freeport, Illinois. A Fine Arts degree holder from the Rutgers University, she was destined to conquer the world of glitz and glamour with her impeccable acting skills and determination to own a portion of the very elusive arena in the entertainment industry.

Her long range of TV, Films, and Theater stints described the long way that she had hurdled to finally make her dreams come true. She debuted on her acting career when she got the bit role as a college student in 1994, in the Robert Redford's "Quiz Show". A year after that, she was able to have the opportunity to portray a bigger role in the "Drunks" but her performance was not strong enough to overshadow the high powered antics of Faye Dunaway and Parker Posey. It was with the portrayal as Laura, that she was able to triumph in the Broadway arena. She was starred opposite Julie Harries in the 1994 revival of the "Glass Menagerie". Although, Flockhart has had several TV roles to her credit, famous of which is her is her titular role in "The Secret Life of Mary Margaret: Portrait of a Bulimic", it was her portrayal as a Boston lawyer in the very famous TV series Ally McBeal that positioned Flockhart into stardom. Her Ally McBeal persona has opened too many doors of opportunities for her. The movie "Jane Doe", filmed in 1996 and was screened in many festivals in 1999, gave Calista an avenue to further showcase her acting skills as a charismatic drug addict. Another noted film she made was the Michael Hoffman's screen adaptation of William Shakespeare's "A MidSummer Night's Dream".

With all the successes in the Film and TV industry, Flockhart once again came back to her theatrical roots. With the comeback on theatre, she was able to earn raves from her portrayal of two characterizations. Her portrayal as a woman recalling the affair she had with a teacher and the tragedies of its aftermath; another well-acclaimed performance was her portrayal of a Mormon who visited New York City with a boyfriend where twists happened.

At 36, this petite, pillar of the theater and film industry, has truly conquered the world she dreamt of invading. And with all the stories that she can recount, no one can argue how successful she was in doing that.
