Biography
Bruce Lee unknown to many is not only a great and legendary actor but a man who truly embodies the arts and culture. Bruce, whose English name was given by the doctor who attended to his mother when he was being delivered, not only knew the art of Chinese Kung Fu and Jeet Kune Do, but he successfully translated his passion for these into a writing when he began publishing books about such, prominent of which was the "Chinese Kung Fu" published in 1963.

Lee Hsiao Lung, Bruce's given Chinese name, became popular for being a film actor, but only few did know that culture and arts really run in his blood. Foremost of the proof is the fact that he is a son of the famous Cantonese Opera singer and actor Lee Hoi Chun. Born under the fire sign of the Dragon, Lee, manifested his love for arts when he became part of numerous Chinese films at the age of 6. His first film "A Beginning Of A Boy" and scores of more films he did were instrumental for his being co-starred in a film with his father -- "My Son Ah Cheun". With this film, Bruce had a bigger role than his father. He made at least 20 of these Cantonese films including "Black Boy Jungle" and "Boys on the Street".

Bruce was also an educator of Martial Arts, having founded two schools that primarily offered the disciplines of Kung fu and Jeet Kune Do, a subset which focuses on how to intercept and attack, rather than blocking and then attacking. He believed that intercepting an attack would be a lot faster than blocking and then attacking, as the latter requires two separate movements.

When he opened "Lee Jun Fan, Gung Fu Institute", his second school, he took this opportunity to learn on how to use the nunchaku`s discipline from fellow student Danny Inosanto. Celebrities like Coburn, McQueen, and Abdul-Jabbar were few of Lee's students.

Apart from being an educator, he was little famous for being a Cha-Cha dancer. He was a good dancer that he was able to make use of this skill to earn a living. In fact, in 1958, when he was sent to San Francisco by his father, he was able to earn some money while aboard, by teaching Cha-Cha dance to passengers.

At age 33, Bruce Lee died in a very controversial death. While he was asleep after taking a medicine pill, Bruce had an attack of cerebral adema, a death by misadventure. His death sparked controversies because he died on Betty Ting Pei's bed - Bruce's close girlfriend.

Almost 30,000 people witnessed the funeral of the legend which had two-- Seattle and Hongkong.

For Linda Emery , his wife, and Brandon and Shannon, their children, Bruce will be remembered not only for being an actor, a writer, an educator, a dancer, and a film maker. He will be foremostly missed for a being good husband and a father.
