She was born as Sharon Murphy on the 10th of November 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia. At the age of 9, she was already seen in local theater productions. She also appeared in different commercials before she got a role in the sitcom Blossoms at the age of 12. She also landed the role of Brenda Drexell in the sitcom Drexell's Class.
Brittany Murphy got more attention from the people when she portrayed the role of Tai, an airhead friend of Alicia Silverstone in Clueless in 1995. She has proven that she is a determined performer who had acting in her system since childhood. She became busy as three consecutive projects were given to her up to 1999. She had Freeway in 1996, David and Lisa in 1998, playing the role of a lesbian and Girl, Interrupted in 1999 as a resident in a mental institution.
In 1999, she also did Drop Dead Gorgeous as she played a role being a contestant in a beauty contest who would rather want to be in Big Apple with her guy brother.
