Biography
Brian Dennehy was born on July 9, 1938 to an AP news staffer and a nurse at Bridgeport, Connecticut. He attended at Columbia Univeristy to hone his football skills. But he also appeared in some college productions while he was taking his BA in History. In 1960, he served in the Marine Corps but 5 years later returned home.
While he was engaged in some blue-collar jobs to earn a living, he also began acting in Broadway productions. He made his debut in Ivanoy in 1976 and played the role of a football player in Semi-Tough on 1977.
Many roles were offered soon which includes, First Blood on 1982, alongside with Sylvester Stallone, Silverado on 1985, The Last of the Finest on 1989, Presumed Innocent on 1990. On 1992, he worked out to lose 35 pounds as he plays the role of a boxing promoter in the movie, Gladiator. In the same year, he also played a notorious serial killer in To Catch A Killer.
In 1993, he became a co-executive producer while he also appeared as an actor in the TV movie, Jack Reed: Badge of Honor. While he had his directorial debut in 1994 with Jack Reed: A Search for Justice. He directs the TV-movie while he was also the scriptwriter and actor. He also appeared in Birdland, Death of a Salesman and Too Rich: The Secret Life of Doris Duke. His role with the Death of a Salesman has earned him a nomination for Emmy Awards.
Brian Dennehy has also earned an Emmy nominations on 2005 for his role in Our Fathers. He played as Father Domenic Spagnolia. The piece touched issues with sex scandals in the Roman Catholic Church.
