Brian de Palma has been with the business for 5 decades now as a film director, writer, producer, editor, cinematographer and actor. He had movies that have low budget up to high budgeted movies that have been blockbusters. Some of the movies that he became known for are Dressed to Kill, Carrie, Raising Cain and Mission to Mars.

Brian Russell de Palma is the youngest son of Anthony and Vivenne. He was born on the 11th of September 1940. His father is an orthopedic surgeon. Brian has witnessed his dad do operations on the different body parts. He was amazed with the job of his dad and would worked during the summer in the hospital laboratory. These images are the inspirations that you will see in the bloody and gory scenes in his films.

As a student, he was first inclined with science. He even won top prizes for science fairs. But it was when he entered Columbia University that he found theater very interesting.

Brian de Palma began directing movies in the 60's. Wotan's Wake was one of his movies in 1962 that won an award as the best film by an American whose under the age of 25.On 1966, he wrote his first film, The Wedding Party. The movie featured Sarah Lawrence, Jill Clayburgh and Robert de Niro. He also made a lot of independent films such as Hi Mom and Obsession.

He was known for having a rather shocking ending on his films like Carrie in 1976, Dressed to Kill in 1980. He also has movies that have violent scenes such as Wise Guys in 1986, The Untouchables in 1987 and Casualties of War in 1989.

In 1992, de Palma he shot Raising Cain and on 1993, he had created his most praised film, which is Carlito's Way. He went further with the film industry with Mission to Mars when he transported violence and horror to the outer space.
