Robert Joseph Dole was born on July 22, 1923 in Russell, Kansas. During his High School years, he was considered as a star basketball athlete. Then, he attended University of Kansas but graduated from Washburn Municipal University (Topeka, Kansa) with a Degree in Law.

This political figure is better known as Bob Dole. His career in politics started in 1951 where he became a member of the State House of Representatives. Then after two years he served as Rusell county attorney. He was also elected as Kansas Republican Representative from 1961 to 1969. He became prominent in 1996 when he ran for Presidency against Bill Clinton.

Dole also has contribution in the Second World War history. He joined the US Army and become a second lieutenant Tenth Mountain Division. He was badly wounded in battlefield that happened in Italy. Because of his bravery and heroism, he was decorated with two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.

Another factor that added to Dole's popularity is being spokesperson of well-known products such as Viagra, Pepsi Cola, Visa and Dunkin Donuts. He had TV appearances in Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Dole have also written books that includes One Soldier's Story, Great Presidential Wit, I Wish I Was In The Book and Great Political Wit, Laughing (Almost) All the Way to the White House. Because of this, he was awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bill Clinton. Then in 2004, he was given an American Patriot Award because of his contribution in Second World War and dedication to the country.

In 2007, Bob Dole and Donna Shalala were assigned by President Bush to head the investigation of veterans' hospital. And up until now, he is still making a difference in America.
