Who would not recognize the young hobbit Peregrin Took in the trilogy Lord of The Rings? Billy Boyd was born on August 28, 1968 in Glasgow, Scotland. He was known for his musical and acting skills. Boyd was educated in the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama where he received his Dramatic Arts diploma.
His supportive parents always drive him for more than two hours so he can participate in theatrical performances. That was the time he realized that he would pursue acting because he is good at it. Unfortunately, this green-eyed actor became an orphan at age 12 along with her sister. His grandmother raised him until he left and worked as a bookbinder at age 17. Interestingly, during his binding works, the Lord of the Rings (LOTR) books were printed and bound. Never did he realize that he would be one of the actors of the same book he bound years ago.
However, prior to acting and during his college days, Boyd supported himself by working in pizza parlor and comedy bar to earn and sustain his education. He is included in the 100 Most Eligible Men in Scotland during the 2002 survey.
Surprisingly, Boyd's acting career was not limited to theater and cinema. He was the voice of Glen in the 2004 horror movie Seed of Chucky. His acting career did not go unnoticed when he was awarded the Teens' Choice MTV Awards in 2002.
Boyd was also known for his pride in the Scottish heritage, in fact, he even wears kilt on many formal occasions. He is fond of porridge for breakfast and knows martial arts like Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Kali.
He married his long time sweetheart Ali and they became parents to Jack William Boyd on April 26, 2006. These days, Boyd stays with his family in Lesmahagow, Glasgow and still find time to surf during his leisure time.
