In 1973 Bill Gates entered Harvard University, where he would meet his later business partner Steve Ballmer. Soon after, Gates left Harvard without graduating to form Microsoft with Paul Allen, programming a BASIC interpreter for the Altair 8800, one of the first personal computers produced by MITS.
