Biography
Barry Williams is an actor who appeared in the classic TV sitcom "The Brady Bunch". His character on the show was Greg Brady.
Barry Williams was born as Barry William Blenkhorn in Santa Monica, California on September 30, 1954. He dreamed of being an actor from a very young age, finding his first role when he was thirteen on a "Dragnet" episode. After a number of minor roles in TV series like "The Mod Squad" and "That Girl" he was cast into the role of Greg Brady on the sitcom "The Brady Bunch", which had a five year lifespan from 1969 to 1974. On "The Brady Bunch", he played the oldest of the Brady children; as such most of the episodes based around him were about the girls he went out with. Although "The Brady Bunch" was not extremely popular during its five year run, it has remained strong within the American cultural consciousness. Some attribute this to the fact that "The Brady Bunch" portrayed a functional family, unlike most sitcoms. However, after "The Brady Bunch" ended, Barry Williams had a hard time finding new work.
Throughout the following decades, Barry Williams worked mainly in musical theatre. He has also continued to make occasional TV appearances in shows including "Three's Company", "General Hospital", "Highway to Heaven", "That '70s Show", and "S Club 7 in Hollywood", and has appeared in many of the various Brady Bunch spin-offs, remakes and reunions. His musical theatre career has seen him touring with shows such as "West Side Story", "The Sound of Music" and "Grease". In 1992 he published a successful autobiography entitled "Growing Up Brady", which was on the New York Times Bestseller List for three months. Barry Williams continues to work in musical theatre and television. He also has a show called "The Brady Brunch" on Sirius satellite radio.
