Astrid Munoz is a Puerto Rican supermodel. She is internationally famous and has modeled for agencies including New York - Next, Marilyn Milon, Riccard Gay and London - Strom. She is also considered one of the first Latin models to become highly popular in the European fashion modeling industry.
Astrid Munoz was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1974, the daughter of an executive secretary and a nuclear engineer. As a girl she was considered very beautiful and her family had many chaperones to keep the boys away from her. She aspired to be a model since she was a little girl reading fashion magazines on the beach. At the age of 14, she had the opportunity to start a modeling career in Spain, but as she grew up in a very strict and overprotective family, she was unable to go. However five years later in Miami she would meet an agent who suggested that she try modeling, and so at age nineteen without consulting her parents Astrid Munoz moved to Paris and started building a portfolio. For several years she worked throughout Europe as a fashion model, during which time she appeared in many fashion magazines worldwide including Elle and Top Model. After several years she moved to New York and her career continued to improve.
During her New York years she was married in a celebration that lasted approximately half a week, although she is currently divorced. After several years of working for New York - Next, Astrid Munoz moved back to Paris in 2005. That year she appeared in many international versions of Vogue magazine.
As of early 2007, Astrid Munoz works for IMG Models, a modeling agency with offices in New York and Paris. She is also listed with Option Model Agency and Elite Model Management - New York. Her hobbies include rock climbing, children's photography and cooking. She continues to appear in lists of the most beautiful women in the world.
