Biography
Ashton Kutcher is a popular actor and former model who became famous in America during the late nineties for his major role in the hit television show "That '70s Show". After "That '70s Show", he moved on to make numerous successful film appearances, but is best well known today as the man behind the television show "Punk'd", a reality / prank show similar to "Candid Camera" that plays video recorded tricks on celebrities.
Ashton Kutcher was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on February 7, 1978. While growing up he worked a number of outdoor jobs like baling hay, carpentry, and castrating livestock. Problems with his parents' marriage and the health of his brother Michael, who had cerebral palsy and viral cardiomyopathy, caused Ashton Kutcher to withdraw from his family, while he was considered popular at school and appeared in school plays while playing high school football. After high school, Ashton Kutcher went to the University of Iowa, but had dreams of being an actor and left college for a New York City modeling career after being chosen and placing first for a modeling competition called "Fresh Faces of Iowa". During the mid-nineties he worked for Calvin Klein, the Next modeling agency, and modeled internationally as well as appearing in a Pizza Hut commercial.
In 1998, Ashton Kutcher moved to Los Angeles. His first acting job was the character of Michael Kelso in the long-running television sitcom "That '70s Show", a role which propelled him to fame and led him to appear in numerous successful comedy films over the next couple years, including "Dude, Where's My Car?", "Cheaper By the Dozen", and "Guess Who". He was also successful in the starring role of the dramatic film "The Butterfly Effect" in 2004.
Since 2003, Ashton Kutcher has become well known for the MTV hidden camera show "Punk'd", which performs tricks on celebrities. The popularity of the show has caused punk to become a recognized verb, with people sometimes asking if they are being "punk'd" when faced with improbable situations.
As of early 2007, Ashton Kutcher continues to appear in popular movies, with some of his recent appearances including that of a Coast Guard rescue swimmer in "The Guardian", and a voiceover part in the successful computer animated movie "Open Season". He has also attracted attention over the past few years for being married to Demi Moore, a famous actress who is fifteen years older than him.
