Biography
Arlene Dahl is an American actress who rose to fame during the fifties as an attractive starlet. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on the date of August 11, 1923. Becoming interested in acting during her teenage years, by the early 1940s while working as a model for department stores she established a successful Broadway career and became an actress signed with Warner Brothers. While the contract with Warner Brothers was very short, with only one appearance in the 1947 film "My Wild Irish Rose", she moved on to the MGM studio and her most well known role in 1948's "The Bride Goes Wild". In "The Bride Goes Wild", Arlene Dahl played a woman who breaks the main character's heart, causing him to go into a drinking depression from which he is saved by the love of another woman.
Other films that Arlene Dahl appeared in during this period included "Three Little Words", "Reign of Terror", "Woman's World", "Journey to the Center of the Earth", and "Slightly Scarlet". She tended to be typecast in these movies, but later on was able to put her image to work for her as she left being an actress at the end of the fifties to become a writer and popular beauty columnist. She also used her well known image as an actress of extraordinary beauty to begin marketing cosmetics and lingerie, founding her own company Arlene Dahl Enterprises.
Arlene Dahl has been married six times, and her son Lorenzo Lamas has since become an actor starring in action roles. While Arlene Dahl no longer works as a professional film actress, she appeared in the 1991 movie "Night of the Warrior" as a guest appearance in a film with her son. She also has continued to make sporadic appearances as a guest on various television shows.
