Biography
Antonio Sabato Jr. is an actor who has played characters in several American soap operas, as well as a variety of smaller roles in various films and television shows. He was born in Rome, Italy on February 29, 1972 (a leap year baby), but moved to America with his family at the age of 12, later becoming a naturalized United States citizen in 1996. Antonio Sabato Jr.'s father was an Italian actor who had appeared in numerous spaghetti westerns. When the family moved to America they settled in Beverley Hills, and Antonio took acting classes to help him improve his English and make friends.
From the early nineties, Antonio Sabato Jr. became involved in acting, with soap opera roles in General Hospital and the extremely popular prime-time soap opera Melrose Place. He also appeared on the prime-time science fiction program "Earth 2" on NBC, a show about people trying to establish a new home for the human race when Earth becomes uninhabitable. The role on Melrose Place was high exposure, but short, as he appeared as the abusive ex-husband of Heather Locklear's character for six episodes. After these television appearances, Antonio worked in a number of made for TV films such as "Her Hidden Truth", "Thrill", and "If Looks Could Kill: From the Files of America's Most Wanted". From the America's Most Wanted movie in 1996, where he played a murderous con-man, he was identified by Calvin Klein. He then became the first celebrity spokesperson for Calvin Klein underwear since Mark Wahlberg in 1992.
Two years later, Antonio Sabato Jr. played a hit man in the Hollywood production "The Big Hit", but ended up not making the transition from television to film. Since then he has continued to appear in television roles, including additional made for TV movies, and popular series like "Ally McBeal", the WB's "Charmed", and soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful". He has also become a celebrity spokesman for the U.S. Formula One Grand Prix, and has published a top-selling exercise / fitness book "No Excuses: Workout for Life".
