Biography
Annabella Sciorra was born in Connecticut. At the age of eleven, she moved with her family to New York City. It was here that she began to take acting lessons. Growing up in Broolyn, she attended South Shore High School. At the age of twenty, Sciorra formed The Brass Ring Theatre Company.
Sciorra first garnered significant attention with her performance in Spike Lee's movie Jungle Fever which was released in 1991. She went on to play significant roles in two other major motion pictures, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle and What Dreams May Come.
She received an Emmy Award nomination for her role in the very popular HBO television series The Sopranos. On that show she played Tony Soprano's mistress.
Sciorra also appeared on Law & Order: Trial by Jury. When that show faltered, she joined the cast of another show in the Law & Order franchise: Law & Order: Criminal Intent. She spent one season on that show.
She is now a guest star making regular appearance on the critically acclaimed Showtime series The L Word.
Sciorra was married from 1989 to 1993 to actor Joe Petruzzi. Beginning in 2004, she started to date actor Bobby Cannavale. Sciorra currently calls Manhattan home.
