Biography
The popular actress Ann-Margret-born Ann-Margret Olsson in Valsj?, Jä´land, Sweden on April 28, 1941, was a singer in a nightclub when George Burns discovered her. Referred to often as the female Elvis, her sex-kitten image won her many parts over the years even though it didn't do much for her recording career-she only had one hit, "I Just Don't Understand," which reached 17 on Billboard's top 40.

Her first film was in 1961, when she appeared in Pocketful of Miracles, with her next role being the following year in State Fair. It wasn't until her starring role in Bye Bye Birdie that she became a star, however, and her career took off. Her affair with Elvis Presley may have also helped; gossip columnists gave her a good deal of press over it. She had the pleasure of playing herself as a guest star in an episode of The Flintstones.

She is also known for her USO tours in southeast Asia with other entertainers (she and one of those entertainers, Mickey Jones, met for an encore of the performance at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, in 2005). Throughout the decades, Ann-Margret starred in many well-known films, such as Carnal Knowledge, Tommy, and more. In 2001 she appeared for the first time on stage, starring in the production The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

She has had over 70 appearances on film and television, and has 11 soundtracks to her credit as well. She has also appeared in other television programs such as Jack Benney's Birthday Special, Academy Awards programs, and many more. And is she done? Absolutely not. The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond is currently in pre-production and is scheduled for a 2008 release. If you don't want to wait for that, she also had two releases in 2006: The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, and The Break Up.
