Anita Yuen Wing-Yi was born on September 4, 1971, and is well known ifor winning the Miss Hong Kong pageant of 1990, then took runner-up at the Miss Chinese International pageant in 1991. Despite that she did not win the Miss Universe pageant following that, she went on to a career in film, where she is sometimes credited as Wing-Yee Yuen or Wing-yi Yuen.

Her first credited film was Jue dai shuang jiao (Handsome Siblings), a story of the kung fu tournaments during the Tang Dyansty. That same year she landed a role in another Chinese film Ya Fei yu Ya Ji, or The Days of Being Dumb. The years brought her a total of over 55 more roles, one of which was Gum gee yuk yip, or He's a Woman, She's a Man. This comedy is as much about love as it is about cross dressing musicians, producers, and fans. For this movie Anita Yuen won Hong Kong Academy's award for Best Actress. She has also been seen in many television series, most of those in Taiwan.
Yuen is considered to be one of the most up and coming actresses in China today. She is expected to be featured in more major film releases over the course of the coming decade. Moreover, she is starting to garner more international attention for her work in recent times as well.
Beyond her expected film work, Yuen is also expected to be highly in demand in the television market as well. She is expected to remain a highly sought after television performer as well into the future.
