American model Angie Harmon-born as Angela Michelle Harmon on August 10, 1972-became one of the best-known models in the 1990s, later building a career as a television star with roles on Law & Order and Baywatch Nights, and a movie career with films like Agent Cody Banks.
She was born in Highland Park, Texas, to parents of Greek and Native American blood lines. Her dark, mysterious looks got her jobs early on as a child model, and she won Seventeen magazine's modeling contest in 1988, two years before graduating from high school. She later worked the ramp for designers like Giorgio Armani, Donna Karan, and Calvin Klein, and also shot covers for ELLE, Esquire, and Cosmopolitan.
She began her acting career in 1995, when she landed her roles in Baywatch, Baywatch Nights, and C-16: FBI. Her best television role, however, is in the hit series Law & Order, where she played Abbie Carmichael on various episodes from 1998 to 2001. While she worked on Law & Order, she also did some voice-over work for the Batman Beyond animations.
Although Law & Order was Angie Harmon's best-known television role, she chose to leave to pursue film work, which she prefers. After her role in Agent Cody Banks, she landed a leading role in the action thriller End Game, the drama Seraphim Falls, and The Women's Murder Club, a series pilot in post-production and due for 2007 release. She also starred in the thriller, The Good Mother, a movie about the adoption of two children that turns into a nightmare for them.
