Andy Lau has had an incomparable career in both pop music and as an actor. He was born in Hong Kong in 1961.

Lau's first major break came in 1982 on the television series Hunting. In fact, it was this role on television that brought Lau a great deal of attention and popularity in China and elsewhere. On the heals of his success in Hunting, Lau was cast in his first movie, Boat People. From there, he moved on to another role on television through brought to him even more attention. That show was called The Return of the Condor Heroes on which he played Guo.

He then landed a role in the film On the Wrong Track, which was a highly regarded production. Lau was not satisfied with his success as an actor. Indeed, he signed his first music contact in 1985. In a short period of time he became of the most successful Chinese singers of all time. He has a long list of hit recordings in both Cantonese and Mandarin to his credit. His singing career sky-rocketed with the 1990 album entitled Would It Be Possible.

Lau continues to shatter records in the music industry. By 2000, Lau actually had won nearly 300 awards for his music. He actually holds the Guinness Book of World Records designation as the Canto-Pop singer who has won the most awards.

Since 1992, Lau has performed in over 200 concerts. While his success as a musician consumes a great deal of his time, Lau has not abandoned his acting career. He remains interested and active in both cinema and television.

Additionally, from time to time Lau also performs as part of a group with three other Chinese musicians. Through this group effort, Lau has received even more and greater acclaim for his musical and performance abilities.
