Andy Dick actually was born Andrew Thomlinson. He was born on December 21, 1965, and is an American comedic actor. He has gained a reputation through his career as being a somewhat edgy comedian despite his appearance in a number of more mainstream television programs and feature films.

Through his career, Dick is best known for his appearance on two major situation comedies on network television in the United States. His most significant and long running role was on the program NewsRadio. On NewsRadio he portrayed Matthew, who really was a clueless and bungling production assistant in the program. The show ran for four seasons on NBC. He also appeared on a sitcom entitled Less Than Perfect.

Dick also appeared on the short lived The Ben Stiller Show on the Fox network. The Ben Stiller Show featured sketch comedy for which many people believe that Dick particularly is adept.

He has had other roles as well, including appearing as the son of Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 in a Get Smart reunion movie. He has also had roles in films, including in 1998 when he voiced the character of Nuka in the very popular The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. Additionally, he voiced the character of Boingo Bunny in the 2006 animated movie Hoodwinked.

In 2001, Dick created his own show on MTV, entitled The Andy Dick Show. The series lasted three seasons and has become something a cult classic.

In 2004, Dick starred in a satire of reality shows called The Assistant. Although the show was short lived, Dick got high marks for his performance..
